Kartik has been evicted!!!
Remember Kartik the paraplegic boy? He and his paternal aunt have been asked to leave by the relative they were staying with. The dreaded option was to put him in a welfare home. However, our dear kind Shanti (who is currently housing 10 elderly folks in her house) has kindly offered to take Kartik in to live with her. I am truly and completely amazed by this generous gesture!!!
As we know, being paraplegic, Kartik has special needs and we would like to help ease Shanti’s burden. It will be very helpful if we can get a sponsor for Kartik. He will be getting a wheelchair by end of this week (sponsored), and apart from this, his diet requires hi-calcium milk, high fibre foods and plenty of water. He also needs diapers, and we are waiting for G2 to let us have his other needs when he moves into Shanti’s home, such as beddings, etc.
Please contact Ainie or Kim for more details on how to be a sponsor.
Update (29 Sep 2009) – Kartik moved to Shanti’s home yesterday. Mageson from G2 said he cried…how sad. He is still a kid and the move must have been quite traumatic for him. Actually, I just found out that he was staying in a welfare home but his paternal aunt took him out and they both stayed at a relative’s house for about 1 year. And now, he is moved again. We hope his stay in Shanti’s home will be more permanent and that he will be comfortable and happy. Since he couldn’t sit for long, we didn’t get him a wheelchair, but got him a lazy chair instead (courtesy of our kind donor VG).

Hi! When you said, “get a sponsor”, what a ’sponsor’ needs to do? Like monthly contribution of one of the item, etc instead of one-off donations?
yes, sponsor means regular/on-going contributions to meet part/all of Kartik’s needs, for a fixed duration, say for 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or even longer. Kartik’s needs can be met by one or more sponsor.
